About.
Hi! My name’s Lydia, a freelance illustrator originally from Norwich U.K. & currently living in Perth, Australia with my husband Eli. My work is fuelled by a love of creating warm, inviting images that I hope will make you feel safe & cosy.
A love of creating was birthed in me at a young age when a weekly visit to my grandparent’s house along with my brother Luke would involve a new medium or technique waiting for us to learn. Alongside our very talented nana we’d mess about whilst grandad cheered us on & supplied us with biscuits. Since then, through facing struggles with my mental health as well as working in schools & church youth groups helping young people overcome their own, the direction my art has taken has been even more focussed on spreading a positive message. When lockdown began in the U.K. March 2020, i was just drawing as a part time job but I decided to make the most of a difficult situation & Lydia Ellen Design became full time.
With the free time I started drawing something new daily to post on my Instagram which has become my happy place, where I get to share whatever’s inspired me each day to my supportive friends & followers. I’m also often working on various projects & commissions as well as in a bakery called Knead by the beach here in sunny WA where we moved back to in July of 2021.
In our spare time Eli & I love to travel, cook or go out for good food, attend church, come last in pub quizzes or relax at the cinema & when we get the chance our favourite outdoor activities are skiing, surfing & swimming. Family is the most important thing to both of us & we spend time with loved ones regularly.
I hope you will find some peace & comfort in my artwork. Please come along this journey with me if you fancy!
